First Aid

First Aid

Whilst we endeavour to minimise accidents and injuries in rugby, unfortunately, like all walks of life, it can never be entirely injury free. To that end, we need to deal with injury when it occurs, to the best of our ability. As a recommendation, we would urge clubs (and schools) to provide first aid at all group activities. but particularly when there are contact matches going on. There are a number of first aid courses out in the community that would be suitable in particular, World Rugby organise a FAIR course, First Aid In Rugby, a rugby specific first aid course. Currently at the SRU, we’re planning to do 25 courses this year, please see the website for further details. As well as first aid, there are a number of high level courses. If the club is lucky enough to have a doctor or physiotherapist attached to the club, then they may apply to the union to do one of our Level 2 or Level 3 courses.
