Extending Hope International School first aid training

We are here at Extending Hope International School, where teachers will be trained. Part of the training today, they are having “First Aid” to prepare them As we are going to open the School next monday for the new town. We want to prepare our teachers that they should know, what to do when an emergeny has taken place. Many people here in Malawi they die, not because they could have died, but because when an emergency takes place, nobody was there to give them First Aid. So what is First Aid? First Aid is the first help that you give to an injured person or a person who just suddendly got ill . so… without proper handling of the patient, it can lead to serious impression, even death. So we want to prepare our teachers, that they should be able to treat each and every child who comes to you that they can reach their destiny. There should not be any problem because something has happend. Maybe they were eating their porridge and choked, or an accident when they are playing. We want our teachers to be equipped, so they are able to help. To give the First Aid with appropriate skills that are needed.

(Look at the time) Pacey: We’re not yet finished yet.
Jeff: (He’s probably has a 0 already) Oliver: Wait, let me call him
Jeff & Pacey (yeah, let’s just give him a zero) Wait I’m gonna call him… They planned on giving Simver a 0, when they saw something UNEXPECTED Simver answered Wait a minute HEY! WHAT THE HECK IS THAT?! AMP BENTA PATI SA NAG SUB dUDE, what is that?! Pikachu? No dude, Bedan A wild dog appeared Guys what do we do!? Why don’t we throw some rocks at it? Where’s the rock? oh thank you! Jeff: Oliver used throw rock! amp bat slow motion HAHAHAHA Oliver’s attack missed! The dog seems triggered! Jeff: Oi! Jeff: We really need a first aid kit Pacey: Yeah we need a first aid Narrator: Where will they get a first aid kid while standing by the road breaths Narrator: It’s a good thing I brought one, get it by the sidewalk Narrator: Next time though, you should always be prepared! Pacey: Pre! Over there! Jeff: There it is!
Pacey: First Aid Kit! Pacey: And now that we have a first aid kit Jeff: We’re here to teach you how to do First Aid during Animal Bites. Narrator: Bring it your house Pacey, so we can do the first step. Pacey: Yeah! Let’s take him there! Let’s go Narrator: Be faster Pacey: Guys, lets just teleport 1 2 3 Pacey: Teleportations amazing Who’s this? That’s our narrator! You’re right awkward silence Procedure of First Aid for Animal Bites
(wii music) Step 1: Apply direct pressure until bleeding stops What are you doing? It’s not like that! Jeff: That’s what he said! Apply pressure Pacey: all you had to do was narrate *sigh it’s like this, apply pressure so that the virus won’t spread to the body and you won’t get infected Oliver: Oh is that how First Aid works ? Narrator: Pacey it’s not like that, applying pressure is so that the blood flow weakens Step 2: Gently clean the wound with warm water and soap then rinse for several minutes Pacey: Is that warm water? see it’s warm now, we grab safeguard *not sponsored* 3 pumps (apat kaya yun) Then gently wash Narrator: Wash thoroughly Oliver: Safeguards effective, I can feel it Pacey: Safeguards amazing right Safeguard won’t let you down Step 3: Apply ointment cream to prevent infection then wrap it with sterile bondage Do you know how to bondage? Of course, I’m used to it so we put this there, then wrap it around the wound Okay, answer my question
Jeff: wtf Pacey: Why do we have to bandage a wound? Oliver: Yeah why do we ? Pacey: You guys answer it Narrator: The use of wrapping a wound is so that it applies pressure and prevents blood loss nani!? there I think that’s alright Step 4: Go to the nearest hospital Jeff: Now that we applied the first aid, lwe now have to go to the hospital because.. because hahahaha you don’t have anything to do anymore hugot* and when the person you love with your whole heart hurts you hugot aside We need to go to the hospital to make sure that the wound won’t worsen Remember Prevention is better than cure So If you see a stray animal stay away from it why would you go near it, when you know you’ll only get hurt This is your Group 2. Dog First Aid : How to Care for a Dog’s Torn Toe Nail

Dog First Aid : How to Care for a Dog’s Torn Toe Nail

So I am going to demonstrate for you how you
would bandage a torn toenail from a dog. We are working with Ty here and he has torn his
right dewclaw. Dewclaw is the nail that is upside on the leg and he has torn that completely
off. So first thing that we want to do is you can see that the hair around the dewclaw
is a little bit matted and the first thing we need to do is clean that area up. We need
to brush that hair out. Now you can shave the area if you want to. I am trying to save
the coat so I am just going to brush this area out. It is going to tender and sore so
I am being very careful to hold the hair away from the skin so I don’t hit the skin with
the brush
and it is actually matted like this because he has been licking it. Ty stop. I am going
to expose the area. Put your head down. Okay, put your head down. Okay you can see that
it is a little bit red and raw here, the area that he has been licking; the area around
the dewclaw that is missing and in fact I will scissor the hair away from this area;
make it a little bit easier to work. Okay he is very obvious sensitive in this area
so I am going to work carefully.
So this is the dewclaw here. It is a little bit swollen. The dewclaw itself is actually
missing. We are going to clean this area out here. I am going go use some Betadyne from
my first aid kit; some Betadyne and cotton. If you can leave a wound like this open for
the air to heal, that is always better but if the dog is worrying it, licking it and
causing it to swell up like this then we really do need to close it off. Before we close it
off though, I want to clean it out.

How to Make a First Aid Kit : Electrolyte to Include in Your First Aid Kit

How to Make a First Aid Kit : Electrolyte to Include in Your First Aid Kit

For certain trips for example if you’re going
into the dessert for a hiking up in the mountains, in the dessert, if your going for long long
camping trips in areas where it’s very humid or hot and you are doing a lot of sweating
or even if you’re just doing some exercise that causes you a lot of sweating and loosing
a lot of fluid then you want to replenish your electrolytes, that’s your sodium, your
potassium, your glucose in your body to prevent any dehydration. So, if you can get hold of
these packages or anything that this is, for example, is called oral rehydration salts
that would be very good to include into your kit. I will show you how to use this but you
can also get this in tablet form, too. So, basically tablet form is a compressed form
of the loose powder and this is the loose powder form. And, in this package it contains
sodium chloride, which is the chemical name for salt, potassium chloride, and glucose.
So,here it says, directions: How to Use. Very simple, it says dissolve in 1 liter drinking
water. But, for example, sometimes kids don’t like to drink things that taste icky, so you
can also put it in orange juice, any kind of juice, fruit juice, and let it dissolve
in there and you really wouldn’t tast it at all. So, it’s, the kids are more inclined
to drink it. But, anyway here, it’s very simple, I’ll show you. You just get a liter of water,
but here we just got a sample, a cup of water, and of course this is when a pair of scissors
comes in handy because it you don’t have a pair of scissors I guess you’ll have to resort
to using your teeth. But, which I am going to do but I don’t have strong teeth. So, if
we, if we, if we can find a pair of scissors, which we should have, oh, here it is, so here
see, pair of scissors, I told you is very important item. If you don’t have strong teeth
like me so, very easy, open it up, and here we go. We will then just pour into the water
and give it a stir and this is when if you have a depressor if you don’t have any sort
of like catheter, you can always improvise, that’s why it’s always good if you can get
one of these tongue depressors in your kit because you can always use it as a stirer.
See, so these things in the kit, these items, you can improvise and use them, it’s like
survival techniques so here we go, this is my stirer and let it dissolve and I’m going
to taste it. See what it tastes like. I haven’t tried this brand, let’s see. See what it tastes
like, it’s better to have ice.
Yes, it’s better to put into orange juice or something that’s sweet because it’s like
drinking a pot of salt. But, it’s good for you though when you’re dehydrated. You don’t
want to end up in the ER, right, so, alright, there we go. Rehydration.

How to Bandage an Elbow

How to Bandage an Elbow

How to Bandage an Elbow. Bandaging an injured elbow is simply logical:
if you physically compress the area, it won’t be able to swell as it might if left to its
own devices. It’s also a pretty simple process. You will need A 2- to 3-inch wide bandage
Binding clips or adhesive tape Soap and water (optional) Disposable gloves (optional) and
dressing (optional). Step 1. Place the tail end of the bandage on the inside
of the arm, just below the elbow, and wrap it around the arm twice to secure the bandage. You want it tight enough to apply pressure
but to not cut off circulation. Have the victim bend the elbow slightly if
they can do so without causing further pain or injury. This positioning will make the bandaging easier. Step 2. Wrap upward, winding the bandage diagonally
from the elbow toward the bicep. Step 3. When you reach the elbow, wrap a figure-eight
pattern around the elbow so the X, or middle, of the figure eight is on the inside of your
elbow, then continue upward. Step 4. When you reach the bicep, finish the bandage
by completing two turns directly over one another, just like at the beginning, without
moving the position of the bandage. Step 5. Use the binding clips found in the bandage
packaging—or apply a strip of adhesive tape—to keep the bandage in place. Avoid anything that might increase swelling
in the first 48 hours after an injury, like a hot shower or drinking alcohol. Step 6. Check for circulation by squeezing the tip
one of the fingers on the injured arm and see how long it takes for color to come back
to the fingertip. If it takes longer than 3 seconds, unravel
the bandage and redo it a little looser this time. Did you know The funny bone is not a bone
at all, but a nerve that runs along the ulna, one of the two major bones in the forearm.
