Your Illness is Not Your Fault

Your Illness is Not Your Fault

good morning John I’m still sick this is annoying the thing that I’ve noticed now that I’ve had this happening for like two weeks is that when you are sick people give you advice I’ve actually noticed this for years when it comes to my ulcerative colitis a lot of people seem to have a cure in their back pocket if only I’d go gluten free or stop eating grains or palio or vegan or stop eating short train carbohydrates or fast for three days and then eat an apple seriously it was a whole thing and it took like half the party for him to explain it to me and over the years I’ve tried a lot of those things and none of them worked what worked was taking the medicine that my doctor gave to me and then over the past week people have been saying completely normal things to me like get some rest man or take it easy stop stressing sleep more and I’ve been a little bit shocked by how annoying this is not because it is annoying like its fine It’s a totally fine thing for somebody to say but it’s tapping into this thing that I have with my ulcerative colitis after years of dealing with my chronic illness that I can not cure and having people tell me ways that I should be able to cure it what I’m hearing is not, you know ‘take it easy, we support you’ instead I’m hearing: ‘I have the secret to your wellness and If only ‘you had the courage and fortitude to implement it, you would no longer be sick’ and one step further from that whats tickling by subconscious here is this idea that my illness is my fault I know that my chronic illness is pretty insignificant compared with what a lot of other people are dealing with but I think this is probably an experience that a lot of people have when you tell me, a person who has lived with ulcerative colitis for more than a decade that you have the secret to my wellness I can not help but dislike you like if that’s my first impression, and sometimes it is I’m like ‘I’m out’ and look maybe this is the one weird instance in which you are the one who was right and maybe I’m missing that opportunity to finally make myself better but I’ve heard this line so many times with so many different facts and so many different pieces of anecdotal evidence that all I can hear when people say this to me is ‘your illness is your fault’ because we want it to be somethings fault, right? because if its not the fault of anything, then it has to be just weird random chance and that’s what chronic illness is it just freaking happens to good people and bad people and champion athletes and people who drink to much I’ve dealt with my illness by allowing myself to accept it by admitting to myself and accepting that my life is different now and my body is different now and I have to live inside of this body that sometimes hurts itself science will keep marching forward and someday maybe there will be a medicine that I can take that will control this disease without making me sick in other ways and yes, science shows that my behaviour does influence the expression of my disease and so does my experience of my disease and so I do need support from people that help me make the decisions that my doctor says that I should make and that I have decided for myself that I want to make but I also can’t avoid the truth that this is the body that I’m in and I have to accept that like among the many probabilities that were cast, that mostly came up in my favour I rolled bad on auto-immune diseases my brain tried to tell me over and over again that this is my fault I have searched for every possible way subconsciously and consciously that this is a thing that I did to myself and that’s a crappy feeling and its re-emphasized every time someone tells me that there’s a simple thing that I can do to make myself well I want to say here at the end of this video I’m doing fine, I’m not angry or frustrated at my friends or at you I have a loving and supportive group of people who are fantastic in my life and I do my best to understand that when people are saying these things they’re not trying to make me feel what I’m feeling so I just try and accept that support for what it is rather than how it’s being expressed specifically but if you want to be supportive of someone who’s sick in your life make sure that you recognise that it’s very possible that they are struggling right now with this feeling that they did something to cause or to deserve the illness they have even if objectively they understand that that’s completely untrue when we say there is an easy way out of this and there’s not what we’re making people feel is that ‘this is your fault’ when it’s not. John, I’ll see you on tuesday

Fractures and Tendon Muscle Joint Injuries

Fractures and Tendon Muscle Joint Injuries

Marine Online this section should give a short introduction to fractures tendon muscle and joint injuries handling and transport you the framework of the body is called the skeleton and consists of approximately 220 bones these bones are connected with joints tendons and muscles injuries to the bones are called fractures fractures are caused by direct force or pressure stretching blowing overloading twisting you definitive fracture is visible pieces of bone open fracture angulation visible shortening of a limb and crepitation indication of a fracture is swelling Payne malfunction and paleness you stabilizing the fractured area is done too locations to relieve pain so the transportation can be carried out fast and gently click on the hot spots to see what a good spin should and should not do professional splints are inflatable splint cardboard splint stretch tension splint Sager splint vacuum splint Cramer splint if you don’t have any of these splints available use your imagination a good splint should not prevent adequate blood Galatian compressed nerves chill or heat the injured area or have sharp pointed edges a good splint must be adequately stiff or rigid be long enough to extend beyond the injured area immobilize the joint over and under the injury and be padded sprained an acute tendon muscle or joint injury is the result of the tissue being for a short moment exposed to a greater force or more pressure than it can endure for example caused by push thrust or blow the extent of the damage depends on the type of tissue its elasticity etc compared to the force it is exposed to the objective of first aid treatment for this type of damage is to reduce pain prevent swelling and reduce the length of the healing process sprain injuries have to a logic same symptoms as a fracture therefore in many cases it may be difficult to tell one from the other if in doubt whether the injury is a sprain or fracture always treat as a fracture the symptoms are Payne decreased mobility swelling and change of color such as blue yellow or purple treatment a sprain injury should be treated according to the RIC II principle rest ice compression elevation this all-round treatment is always for the best of the patient giving pain relief and favorable healing for injuries to larger muscles it is more important to use pressure to the area rather than cooling because the cooling effect will not be absorbed deep enough the letters are I see II mean the following R is the first letter of rest rest means to rest and protect the injured area for the first 24 to 48 hours and to stop activity that causes pain and soreness I is the first letter of ice ice means reduce bleeding reduce swelling and relieve pain see is the first letter of impression this is most important during the first 24 hours compression is done to reduce bleeding and to reduce swelling it is important to observe the blood circulation below the injured area E is the first letter of elevation elevation is done to relieve pain and to improve blood circulation transporting a patient and choice of evacuation or transport method will always depend on the following how much time a disposal available material available personnel type at extent of the injury access to and from place of injury require treatment during the transport there are several methods on how to hand and transport a person we will now take a closer look at the most used methods the injured person is raised to a half sitting position and the rescuer grasps around his wrists the rescuer stands up and can now drag the patient this is no gentle way of transport but it is a fast and effective way of moving an injured person out of a dangerous area the method is relatively easy to practice and an effective way of moving heavy patients it may be difficult to open doors or move objects as the rescuer does not have his hands-free the basis of this lifting method is the drag method number one rescuer stands behind the injured person grasping his wrist number two rescuer takes hold of the injured persons thighs as close to his crotch as possible lifting each leg this is a relatively gentle and safe method of transport where the rescuers at all times can see where they are going this method should not be used if the injured person has fractures and an unconscious patient may easily get his Airways blocked you a well-known lifting method useful when the patient is conscious and able to cooperate this is the fastest method of moving a patient in addition the rescuer has one hand free to open doors move obstacles etc once the patient is up on your shoulders this is an easy way of transport that you must keep in mind that this is not a gentle way of transport this method is safe fast easy and a good way to put a patient onto a stretcher it requires four to five helpers who can lift the patient don’t forget the patient’s head if the patient is unconscious the head will roll sideways unless someone is responsible for securing the head this person should be the one giving the command okay lift so that everyone lifts at the same time one person shall push the stretcher under the patient if the patient has a back injury this is a good way to handle the patient when a scoop stretcher is not available it is very important that everyone lifts at the same time this is the most common used lifting method when placing an injured person on a stretcher the bearers three persons should kneel on the left side of the injured one bearers should be in command and he shall concentrate on the patient’s head neck and shoulders all three bearers shall lift the injured at the same time a fourth helper moving the stretcher under the injured with this lifting method there is very little movement of the patient’s body this method should not be used when moving a patient with counter stretcher you the first aider must at all times consider his own health and safety he can be of no help if he jeopardizes his own safety this means using correct lifting methods whenever possible some lifting operations may have to be carried out within very narrow passages and severe working conditions the following rules must be practiced whenever possible plan the lift and transport try to get help from others before lifting evaluate if the patient can be placed in a better more comfortable position keep your back straight lift your head and look straight ahead lift using your legs

FULL FACE FIRST IMPRESSIONS | TRYING $550 OF NEW MAKEUP!

FULL FACE FIRST IMPRESSIONS | TRYING $550 OF NEW MAKEUP!

What’s up everybody?
Welcome back to my channel. Today we’re doing part two of the full face
first impressions using all new makeup. I guess it’s gonna be
a series on my channel. You guys will have to let me know if
you want me to continue doing these. But the first one that I did
last month, you guys loved. And I think I buy way too much makeup
so it’s fun to like accumulate it all where all the new stuff that I’ve got in
the last weeks and just try it all at once. I mean, hi, it save a lot
of you guys’ time cause I know a lot of you love to watch and
see if things work or if they do not work. Now today’s video’s gonna be really fun
because I want a little ham and so forth, so I got a lot of new products and I also got
some new stuff from Alta and the drugstore, stuff that I have never used before that
you guys have actually recommended. So today we’re going to dive into all
of that and try it all on my bare skin. So if you guys want to see me play with
new makeup, then keep on watching. All right now. Sometimes it’s kind of hard to find
a full face of like every single product so there are a few things
that I am missing. But I think I got most everything. So I was browsing on Sephora.com and Doctor
Brandt who is of course an amazing skincare line, they have something brand new
out called the Illuminizer Primer. Now this is allegedly something that is
gonna give me a natural backlit glow, revive my dull complexion, and
help refine the look of pores. I’m like okay girl, if anyone says that they can minimize
pores and give a nice flawless look, I’m down for. All right, so this says to apply
on clean moisturized skin. Put this over on desired areas
for a natural radiant look. Okay guys so let’s just
use one hand over here. Oh it smells really fresh. Oh it feels a little tacky which is great because
you know foundation is going to stick to the skin. Let’s do a little bit more
for the forehead. All right this is dry on my skin.
It feels good. Okay. So for foundation I’m going to be trying
out the new Tarte clay stick foundation. Now this just hit the market
and I bought three shades. Of course you guys all know what
a stick foundation looks like by now but this color, I mean
I’m just gonna go like this. I mean that looks like
a really good match. This one was light beige
and this one is fair beige. All right, definitely this one is too light. I probably could work with that
but I like how this one is looking so I am going to stick to light beige. Let me go wipe this off
and I’ll be right back. All right now I am not sure what kind of finish
or coverage this is supposed to give me and I could stop and Google it but you
know what, let’s just see what happens. I don’t want to put too much on because
God knows it could be really full coverage and then I’m gonna be like oh. Now Beauty Blender just put out
a new little trio for the summer. I bought two packs. I’m gonna be doing another giveaway with a bunch of
brand new makeup soon so this will be going in there. But I unboxed it yesterday and
I used it for the first time. Of course it’s the same Beauty
Blender. It’s just different colors. That hot green one is speaking
to my soul right now. Okay, so before this dries or gets weird, let’s buff it out
and see what kind of coverage we’re gonna get. On the realest level up close,
I have a mirror right in front of me. You guys, this looks really pretty like it’s full
coverage but my skin looks like really nice. On the real fucker tee you all! I did not expect the stick
foundation to be this natch. I’m like looking close up like girl. It leaves a beautiful finish on the skin. It does not look too heavy but
it is a full, I think it’s medium. I probably could add a little bit more
but I love how this is looking. I don’t see the reason to add anymore. Wow! Okay, let’s move on to concealer. All right you guys so we were about
to try a new drugstore concealer but I opened it up and the lightest shade
was darker than my normal skin tone. So I found another concealer that I have not
used yet by one of my favorite brands, La Mer. It looks like this minus
all my fingerprints on it but I haven’t tried this yet and
this is seventy-five dollars. I’m like this better conceal my fucking life
and my attitude after I am done using it. So this is the lightest shade
in this brand as well. Still I don’t think it’s light enough for
me but we will see in a second. So I’m just gonna take a little of
it and go under the eye like that. I’m just gonna take my Beauty Blender
and bounce this away. Okay, so far, so good. It looks really like a lightweight on here. It’s not like really crazy,
it’s not cakey. But did it do a lot though? Not really. All right so now that
this is all blended out, am I living for it? I mean, I don’t think
it really did that much. I mean I am gonna be the one that
says it probably right off the bat that for $75 I should be wowed and right now I am kind of looking at
myself like mmm, hmm, I’m bored. Next product. For setting the under-eyes and the concealer
I am going to be using the new Dermablend, what is this? The loose setting powder. Now I have seen a lot of people use this lately
and they are ranting and raving about it so I had to get it myself. Now there are a few colors.
I just got Original. I think that it’s supposed
to be translucent. Comes in a standard
little package like this and let’s see if she works. Oh, oh wow! Okay girl, what the hell! Oh it’s like a big old, like almost like when you open
up a pill bottle and you have to take out the cotton. I think this is what this is. Okay, I’m just gonna put
a little bit of this right here. Let’s see what happens. And let’s let that sit for a second
and I am about to brush it away. I am going to be using this new
little cute Tarte Unicorn brush and I’m just gonna brush
away my problems. All right, the setting powder, let me go,
let me zoom in here for a minute. I mean, it set everything really, really nice. Okay. Now I know a lot of people have been
ranting and raving about the, what is this? This is from the brand Charlotte Tilbury and this is the Airbrush Flawless
Finish Skin Perfecting Micro powder. I need some water. Now notice I’m gonna avoid all the areas
that I have the concealer under. I really don’t like to dip in and put powder over
powder over powder where it doesn’t need it. So I’m just gonna set the rest of the face
where I don’t have any concealer. It looks amazing, like up close you
guys, right in front of me, I’m like. Okay, so now we’re going to move on to,
let’s try some bronzer you guys. Let’s do a little highlighting. Now I do have some exciting new
products I’ve been dying to use. The new Koko Kollection from
Chloe and Kylie Cosmetics is here and if you open it up you get a blush, two highlighters
and a bronzer/contour color we’re gonna call it. I’m gonna try them out today. I wanna see what the tee is. Now this bronzer close up has shimmer in it when
I’m looking at it and what is the bronzer called? This is Hollywood Boulevard bronzer. That took me like five minutes
to figure that out. Wow, that is very pigmented. All right the face is warmed
up. I love this bronzer. I was a little scared that it’s gonna
be like too, like orangey on me and there’s no like shimmer
once it’s on the skin. In the pan it looks a little glittery
but on the skin it’s matte, it’s soft, it’s really nice,
doesn’t look too harsh. Definitely not what I expected
and I’m really living for it. Hmm! Now I love this brush
because you literally just go bam! Nose is contoured. All right. Now I think because
there is a blush in this palette, we might as well try it and the
blush is called Rodeo Drive, one of my favorite places in LA
and I am going to, one, two. Now I do love the formula
of the Kylie blushes. Now these, just from looking at it,
they look to be like the same formula. Okay, I’m going a little
too crazy there. So I’m just going to press it into the skin. Oh! There is definitely pigment. I’ve just been really into like peachy, warm
tone blushes lately and I really like this color. Bam! All right. Haa, let’s get to my favorite
part of the day, highlighting. All right. Now today we’re going to be trying out
the new Huda Beauty 3D highlighter palette. Now there are two highlighter palettes. This one is the Golden Sands edition. There is also a Pink Sands but this
one looked more up my alley. Now the cool thing about this is that one is a cream
highlighter and I think the rest are powders. Now I did swash this earlier cause
I didn’t know it was a cream and I touched it and I was like,
oh! It’s a cream, okay. So it says to apply this as
a base to smooth skin and then you can add things on
top of it to make it really intense and I think this one might be more
of like a blushy highlighter. So I am down to try these two. So Phegee is the, this is a cream you guys
so you touch it and it’s like woa! I mean. And then Seychelles is this
gorgeous highlighter. I’m just gonna swash it with a clean
finger and that is a powder. Ohh but they feel really buttery. And that’s what these two look like so
hopefully they look good on my skin. All right so I’m gonna use a little Mac synthetic fiber
brush and we’re gonna dip into shade Phegee here and I am just going to put this
right on top of the contour. Definitely not good. I mean obviously it feel like a subtle
glow you could wear this on your skin even without foundation it would
probably look stunning. But for me, you guys know I am a highlighter
freak and this is not blinding enough. I’m only gonna do one side of the face first cause
what if I don’t like it, I don’t wanna do both sides. Let’s dip into shade Seychelles,
and ooh okay. Let’s see what happens on me. That is really, really pretty. Like these, the blush, the contour
and this together I’m like hmm. It is glowing. I’m like look at the way when
I shift my face hmm. Okay and I’m just gonna put
that all on the brow bone. All right now I’m also gonna take that same cream and
powder combo and do my cupid’s bow of course. I think Huda Beauty has another hit on her
hands because this palette is so pretty and I’m doing some of the highlighter on my brow and
above the brow bone for some crazy alien dimension. I’ve been really loving the no brow look lately
and there is actually no new brow products from really any brand that
I could find this month. So we’re just gonna add our
highlight until my face falls off. So now let’s get started on the eyes. Now I’m going to be using the new
ColorPop I Love serahe collaboration which, oh my God you guys, I was really excited
about this because the packaging is stunning and I just love all the lip swatches I was seeing
online but the eye-shadows were speaking to me. So this one Chic-y is [inaudible].
It’s stunning. Let me show you all,
let me show what’s in here. Oh my God this wasn’t even my favorite one
but this is obviously really pretty as well. Now the ColourPop eye-shadow formula,
I haven’t really used it on my channel. I have definitely tried it off-camera
and it’s pretty good, I will say that. Now this palette, there are two. $aucy, that’s the one where the colors are
always speaking to me, not gonna lie. Look at this y’all, look at that! Yummy! This needs to go right here and
these three need to go right here. Definitely might dip into this one as well
but this one, I think $aucy is it for me. Like it looks really pretty. All right. So I love this light shade here. It looks like a vanilla matte and I’m
just gonna be dipping into there and putting it all over the lid and
right under the brow bone. Now these have a lot of pigment. I barely tapped in there
and it’s like “Good morning.” Now I’m gonna be dipping into this one. Oh the names are on
the back, by the way. So this one is called Freckles, that is so
cute and I’m gonna use this same brush and I’m just gonna barely tap in there
because these are extremely pigmented and I’m just gonna tuck that
into the crease a little bit. All right. Now we’re gonna
move over to the other palette and there is a shade called Chic Happens and
it’s like a beautiful light toned mauve right here and same brush again you guys, and I’m just going
to take that and place it right over that crease. So where normal people’s brows
would be I’m bring that shadow up. Now we’re gonna take the shade Lit with a little synthetic
brush and let’s see oh, okay pigment, come on now. I’m gonna coat the entire brush. Just gonna pat this on my lid
and see how this looks. I love, love how this color
like looks in the pan. All right now I think the metallics have
a little bit more fall-out than the mattes. I’m like girl but they are really pigmented
so it’s definitely forgivable. All right you guys I think this
color is so pretty on the lid. All right now we’re gonna go in
with this shade called the Razy. It’s like a dark plum purple
and I am living for it. And we’re just gonna
tuck it right in there. Bam! And bring it to the lash line so it just
gives us some drama if you will. Then I’ll go back and forth with that other light
mauve shade and I’ll just really blend it out to fill. This is looking really pretty.
These shadows are blending amazing. Now I am going to go in with that stunning, like it’s
almost orangy, frosty duo chrome type of moment and that shade is called Heavy Glam. Now I might wet the brush for added intensity but for
now I’m just gonna be using a little pencil brush and we’re just gonna go in here. Oh we had the brush,
it’s coated really quickly. So I definitely don’t want
any crazy fall-out. I just want to put it really in my inner
corner almost over that purple. Oooh yes! Oh wow! Okay I already see where this color
is going and it looks really pretty. So I’m just going to take some Coconut Fix Plus from
Mac and I’m just gonna wet the brush if you will. All right now I’m gonna take that
and just place it a little bit more. Ooh has like a pinky shift to it too. That is so pretty. This is such a unique shadow
color like you’d better work bitch. Okay now I’m definitely gonna smoke out the under
eyes with that same dark color I put right in here. So let’s get to buffing. These shadows are so pigmented. It’s like you gotta really be
careful and that’s a good thing. So I’m gonna take a little bit of that light shade and
just kind of go under the eye, blend her down to fill. Bam, bam bam! I’m like
I only have time to blend. All right, so I’m just applying a little bit of this
Chic Happens shade underneath the purple. I think it’s a really cool way to blend it out and
give you a really extreme type of smokey eye. I think the only thing missing is
some color in the water line which could be a bright color
or we could just do black. We could do white. I think black would be really cool
just cause it’d kinda make it tie in. So I don’t have any new eyeliners.
I know you guys are like, really bitch. I really don’t. I mean who’s put out
new eyeliners lately. I don’t know but if you guys know
a brand or anything new I should try, of course always sound off below and
let me know some good stuff to buy. But for now we’re going back
to my trusty Mac Smolder. I’ve been using this entire
school and it works. Now I think it’s time to move on to some
mascara and today I have two different types. One of them I’m scared to use
with this look but I think it will. If we’re gonna try it, we’re
gonna try it in this video. So the first one is one
that Tati recommended. Of course you guys know her as Glam Life
Guru aka Tati Westbrook here on YouTube. I live for her and she recommended this mascara. Now the price point you all
don’t wanna know the price point. But it allegedly makes
your lashes grow longer and it has ingredients in this that
will actually make your lashes. Well, here let me just read it. It says “With continuous use your natural
lashes will appear longer and fuller. It has additional peptides that help build stronger,
longer lashes, super volume and extreme black.” So I’m like oh my God! All right, so this is from
a brand called Chantecaille. Now this is called the Faux Cils
Longest Lash black mascara. Woo! So of course for the hefty price tag of $70,
it comes in this little purple thing and then you come, it comes
out like this and voila! Oh my God it feels light. It feels light.
I’m sure it works. We’re about to see. Now obviously doesn’t mean the formula
doesn’t work just because it feels a little cheap but hey, let’s see what happens. All right so you guys can see the
difference between one side. So of course this one has all the mascara. This eye is blank.
It does give you a nice length. I mean for the price point I’m sure, I’m gonna
obviously try this for like a few weeks and see if it actually makes
my lashes grow any more. But for $70, I’m like…
and you all know me. I don’t give a fuck about
spending money on makeup. I’m all down to invest
and play around but if it’s not doing anything like out of the ordinary
right away, I don’t know bitch, I don’t know. Oh my God you guys I already forgot
I was about to try another mascara like we’re talking double brands today. So okay, we tried this one,
hope fully it works long lasting. At the end of the day it’s pretty but
for the price point, I don’t know bitch. Mac recently put out a bunch of new
colored mascaras and they are bright. This one is called Energize. It is a literally hot yellow and I thought what better
look to try this on with dark shadow underneath. But I know that when you pull this out,
that is straight up neon yellow. So for bottom mascara
is it gonna work? I guess we will find out right now. Let’s see what happens. All right you guys, for bottom mascara like
the bristles and the wand is so huge. So it was a little difficult to get under there,
but I mean it has full coverage like opaque pigment. So okay, cool. This is definitely different for me and I haven’t
done colored mascara in a long time. I love pink mascara, and I love blue. Yellow though, I don’t know. I almost wanna try this again
with like no makeup on. Really just soft pretty then just do
yellow on the top and bottom. But that’s for later. All right, so today for fake lashes, for falsies,
we’re gonna be using the brand Cake Face Beauty. Now they are the same brand that clog with
Kim Thai and I was like you know what, I want to try more of her lashes
because those were amazing. All right these lashes are glued
down and I’m really living for them. They’re really, they’re really pretty. I’m like looking at them up close
like Woo! Come on volume. All right you guys we’re almost
down to the finish line. Of course we have
to do a liquid lipstick. I mean this is a, this is by Stiehler. This is the Be Legendary Liquid Metal
lipstick and this in shade Petal Metal. So this shade is a stunning
like a rose gold metallic. Okay, let’s see how she works. All right you guys, we have one
last step of course setting spray. Not a day goes by that
I don’t set this face. So, the brand Milk Makeup, they
put out a brand new setting spray. It’s called the Blur Spray and it’s supposed
to instantly minimize the appearance of pores and provides a soft focus
blur effect on all skin tones. An invisible mist sets makeup all day. It is infused with some
good old organic ingredients so it’s supposed to be leaving
your skin soft and hydrated. Shake well before use. All right baby let’s see
what she looks like. Ooh, this is cute. Okay girl, let’s see what happens. Let’s get her going. There we go. Oh my God, it like pumps out like a lot. Woo! All right. I am feeling doused. Let me just buff that
really good into the skin. Now did it do anything?
Let me look. For now I mean it feels good. My makeup does feel set which I love. So you guys I think this is the final look. The final look I’m living for. I think it’s a really fun,
it’s definitely different. I’m so not sure how I feel
about the yellow mascara. It’s definitely like taking it to another
realm and I’m not mad at it. I mean it worked. I think
I’m looking at my desk. The things that really stuck out the most for me
today, has to be the Tarte Clay Stick foundation. I mean that was unreal. Concealer, not so much,
didn’t really care about it. The Charlotte Tilbury face powder though
left me feeling like I looked twelve again and my pores were vanished so that
combo together I’m kinda hooked. And the primer, I’m not mad at the primer,
but I don’t know if it worked or not cause obviously you guys know
I do have pretty normal skin. So it’s kind of hard for me to try primers for
me to see if they actually really, really work. But I don’t know what
kind of recipe I did today but these two combined
left me looking flawless. And I think another thing to really
rave about is the highlighter palette. Oh my God my cheeks are like glowing
from outer space and I’m obsessed with it. I think the eye-shadows
worked really amazing. The bronzer from Kylie was great. We got a lot of really cool things today. I think the only thing I would really, I don’t
want to say I would pass on the mascara. Obviously we know that my lashes might
be growing right now, who knows. But I will give this a whirl in a few more
videos and of course off-camera and we’ll see if anything happens. But besides that I think I liked
most everything. I’m shocked. I was like I’m waiting for me
to try out a bunch of products that just don’t work for me which
does happens sometimes but today, thank you Lord,
I got lucky. All right you guys, let me know if you guys
want me to continue to do this series. If you want part three, four, five six and seven,
but I always have a lot of fun trying new makeup. So as always, thank you for watching
and I’ll see you on the next one. Mwaah! Bye guys.

Patching a hole in my Ghost Whisperer! How to repair torn technical fabrics with Tenacious tape!

Patching a hole in my Ghost Whisperer! How to repair torn technical fabrics with Tenacious tape!

you know how things tend to happen at
the most inopportune times and you’re least expecting it right well outside
playing with the dogs and I got my Ghost Whisperer when wanda jumped up and her
claws snagged on my jacket we ripped a hole in it so let’s go inside we’re back
inside I’m gonna get this jacket fixed up you guys are new to my channel my
name is Madi welcome to Madi Oh doors I challenge all about hiking and
backpacking I’m in a hammock camping I’m Canadian I go to some wicked places in
the Rockies if that interests you consider clicking on a subscribe button
well let’s get into it let’s get this hold my jacket fake stuff cuz this is
driving me nuts first thing I’m gonna take my jacket off a little close up a
lovely hole that Wanda has caused in my jacket
awesome so first thing I’m gonna do is I want to get that down pushed back inside
before I actually patch it so what I’m going to use is I’m just gonna use one
of my titanium Sheppard hook tent stakes this is honestly this is how I have
fixed my jacket in the field a couple times I’ve had issues like this before
happened so I’m just gonna use that to basically just to push the down inside
kind of like I’m trying to push it in away from the hole so that when I put
the patch on the patch is gonna stick to the fabric and not the down all right
you got that now we grab our tenacious tape and to fix up my jacket we’re gonna
use gear aid tenacious tape this is the clear version this stuff is basically
just uh it’s kind of just an all-purpose nylon repair tape works really good for
any of your technical fabrics you pick this stuff up on Amazon whatever I’ll
put some links in the description down below for you guys so what I’m gonna do
it’s basically gonna take this cut off a square we’re gonna patch a jacket with
that there’s a little square tenacious tape let’s get the jacket out past this
alright so we got the jacket down and if you can see a little hole is right here
and also will tough to see in the black fabric button so we’ve got all the down pushed inside
it’s all I’m going to do is take my little strip of tenacious tape peel the
backing piece off literally just slap this guy right over top of that hole
press it on there there it is it is new now you can see it when it’s up close
but like honestly to me I personally don’t really care this is a backpacking
jacket I mean I wear this thing I would devote all the time but I personally
don’t care if there’s patches on it I know if you really really wanted to and
you really cared you could trim up the edges on this and make it a nicer little
patch but I have found in my experience having a little bit more surface area on
the outside of the hole helps this stuff stay on more I have had this stuff peel
off if you don’t have enough covering the hole I know some people like to cut
this out like it’s just like a perfect little circle to cover the hole with
like you know a millimeter of coverage around the edge and it looks nice but it
does not hold so you want to make sure you’ve got enough coverage on the
outside of this thing so there it is guys and gals patching up technical
fabrics it’s how I pack up my Ghost Whisperer
jacket I mean you guys see the sleeves on this thing I got a couple patches all
over the place I have I blown holes in this thing a couple times over the years
it happens this tenacious tape stuff also fantastic for patching any of your
technical fabrics it’s good for patching up packs I mean I know you can patch
hammocks and stuff with this kind of with this stuff I know people patch
tarps with this this stuff is fantastic to have in my first-aid kit I carry a
little chunk of this that’s about that long you know like a little I don’t know
but 3×3 kind of square of this stuff just for if I have any field repairs to
do and then this is just the leftover that I keep it home for doing any kind
of patches I can do at home so uh I’ll put a link in the description box down
below for you guys if you guys are interested in grabbing some tenacious
tape for yourself I do highly recommend it it’s super cheap super effective like
the the patch on this jacket alone is gonna last longer than the jacket
material itself so you know if you guys are worried about picking up some of
these higher-end jackets with the the more delicate UL fabrics grab yourself a
little bit of tenacious tape know you’re gonna be able to patch it
sleeping bags jack is packs whatever you need to with this stuff fantastic to
have so if you guys thought if you guys found value in this video a special
thumbs up let me know you have any questions put them in the comment
section down below I would love to help you guys out if I can and there’s always
guys I Hammadi thank you guys so much for watching and you guys know that I
will see you guys on the next one

The Art of Ancient Egyptian Paintings and Relief Sculptures

Carved around 3000 B.C.E, the Palette of Narmer is one of the earliest religious relief sculptures of Ancient Egypt. In subsequent years sculptures like this would be carved into the walls of temples. This wooden panel, from the burial grounds at Saqqarah, depicts the Egyptian dignitary Hesire. Carved between 2649-2575 B.C.E, it demonstrates careful detail in low relief. The tomb of Kheti at the Beni Hasan necropolis (1938-1630 B.C.E ) demonstrates how entire rooms could be covered with relief sculpture or paintings. Many Egyptians believed this type of decoration guaranteed a continuation of life. This wall painting from Hatshepsut’s mortuary temple at Dayr al-Bahri displays vibrant color and striking detail. Hatshepsut gained unprecedented power for a woman, reigning over Egypt from 1473-1458 B.C.E.. This is the Painting of Queen Nefertiti playing a game, 1320-1200 B.C.E.. This wall painting depicts King Tutankhamen with Egyptian gods Anubis and Nephthys. King Tut ruled from 1333-1323 B.C.E. This painted relief sculpture (probably of the god Anubis) shows a refined artistic style that characterized the reign of Seti I (1290-1279 B.C.E ). And this.. Another example of low relief sculpture from the Temple of Seti I.

Duncan Phyfe Low-Relief Carving: Craftsman Allan Breed Carves a Bow Knot and Thunderbolt Crest

Duncan Phyfe Low-Relief Carving: Craftsman Allan Breed Carves a Bow Knot and Thunderbolt Crest

– This is a Duncan Phyfe
bow knot and thunderbolt crest. So what I’m going to do
is cut in around this bow knot right here, and separate that
from the background. And so I’m dropping in. I’m going to use different
size gouges for this. These gouges are just
different sweeps, meaning that the curve on them
is different. And these gouge cuts will all
meet seamlessly and create the illusion
that this is a piece of ribbon. I’m actually using the tools
to design as I go. They really create the forms. And so this is a sequence
of cuts that’s repeatable. If I do another one and I use
the same combination of tools, my design will essentially
be the same. And so once I cut in
around the edge, I’m going to just make a little
relief cut here to give me my depth. I’m taking a V tool. I’m just going to go around
the edge here. Give me a nice, clean line, and
I’m pivoting around my fingers. This is low relief carving. You don’t need much carving
to get a good shadow. Requires a great deal of skill. It’s quite a bit easier
to get that relief that you need when you have more depth. I’ve always got my hand
resting on the work. This is the brake,
and then pushing is the gas. And I’ve always got the brake
and the gas on at the same time, so that I can stop this cut
wherever I want to, but I’ve still got plenty
of power. Mahogany is a hard wood. Basically carving in its
simplest form is taking a tool with a specific shape,
pushing it through the wood and getting that shape. So if I want a flat surface,
I need to use a straight tool. So the next thing I’m going
to do is clean up these thunderbolts a little
bit… Just so I know where
they’re passing under and then reappearing
on the other side. And I will cut along
the outside edge here, just to give me a little
advantage when I go to take the background down. And then I’ll go in with
a relatively flat gouge and back this background out. And if I go across the grain,
it’s a lot safer, because I don’t have
to worry about the grain ripping out on me. It’s really important to have
an assortment of tools because on any one carving,
there might be one particular part of the carving that can
really only be accomplished efficiently with
a particular tool. There are carvers who are
probably going to do this element in a little
over an hour, I’m guessing. And the advantage, of course,
that they have over me is that they were doing this
motif over and over again. For years at a time
they might be carving very shallow relief carving
like this on furniture. And so you just get
so good at it when you’re doing the same motif
over and over, that it goes very, very fast. And the details are done
just with such precision. There’s no… there aren’t
any wasted cuts. You can tell that every cut
they did had a purpose, and they probably just made it
once, and it was done. With carvers, there’s always
going to be a carver that’s just starting out, and then there are going
to be carvers that have been doing
it for years. And so, you know,
when you see variations coming out of the same shop, it’s really just the different
experience levels of the different carvers. And you would expect that. I’m trying to model this knot. This dives down, this part
of the knot, under that. And then this one, this cut
wants to be more like here. And this one dives down under
that one. The interesting part
is that you’re making something look like something it isn’t. And it’s artifice. It’s art and artifice. You’re making wood
look like ribbon. Once it reaches a certain point,
then you start to believe that it’s not wood anymore. So I’m starting to model
this ribbon. And I’m going to give it
a few cuts to make it ripple a little bit. So the ribbon is coming over,
and it’s rolling like this. So… and on the outside, I’m
going to round the outside over, as if it’s taking
that little flip, like so. What Phyfe did on his was he
took a little cut in here, and then he rolled the ribbon. It’s got a high spot in here,
a low spot here, low spot there. So now I’ll just
do the same thing. I’m taking an almost flat gouge,
and I’m just going to pretend I’m the ribbon
and come up here and dip down and roll around the back. And this will give it
a little bit of life as it passes over
the thunderbolts. The carving right now
is probably about a third done. After I take the whole carving
down to this point, I would go back at the very end
and clean up everything with scrapers and carving tools
to get rid of any little facets in the work, scrape it smooth
to the point where it would be a finished carving.

BACKPACKING GEAR for 7 day winter Aussie hike – Mittagong to Katoomba

BACKPACKING GEAR for 7 day winter Aussie hike – Mittagong to Katoomba

G’day there. So I’ve had some questions about what kind of Bushwalking gear I use & I’d just like to show you. All the things that I carried with me on a seven-day Winter hike from Mittagong to Katoomba Just a standard backpack that you can get from any camping store 70 liters, but it weighed a lot it was about 3 kg. I really wanted to reduce that weight So I removed the top. Both the aluminium stays in there. Any extra straps. The backing material inside there. I removed all of that. Got it down to 1 kg. So I saved alot of weight by doing that. I’ve also sewn on some extra straps. I put a piece of core-flute plastic underneath there. So that the bottom is nice and flat and that makes it hard for the bag to tip over This is just a trash like a bin liner bag all of my things inside that pack are inside of this To keep them dry. wetsuit booties Then I have a trekking pole. Which is great for.. crossing rivers I can use it as a tent pole for the The mountain laurel design solomid XL tent. 1 L water bottle Two 600 ml water bottles. inside z packs shoulder pouches sit pad Tivek ground sheet Polycro ground sheet. This is a chamois for drying the tent. Alright so, water purification Things that I have is a scoop which helps to collect water. Then I can pour it into this 2-liter water bladder And that connects to a Sawyer Squeeze filter. Then I can squeeze that the water out. Either boil it or I can use this SteriPEN Pure+. The light won’t turn on If it’s very cold, so I just had to keep that warm underneath my jacket before using it. 3.5 kg of dehydrated food. Mostly kidney beans. Then some vegetables broccoli, sweet potato, spring onion, leek cauliflower, mushrooms Also had some spices ginger, tumeric Black pepper, chili pepper, salt. Some other things just to spice it up. Make it interesting. This is a long-handled titanium spoon. I also had a 1 liter water bladder Just for extra water carry. In case the three bottles weren’t enough. I’d always put it inside this plastic bag. Because if they leaked I didn’t want them to too wet all of the gear inside of my pack. This is a Caldera Cone. titanium wood-burning stove or metho stove. and then I also bring this pot cover which I just put underneath and that help to Keep all of the sticks and coals keep them contained and also to To reduce the the coals from damaging the soil. I had about 100 ml of metho So that was just in case the sticks were wet or I couldn’t light a fire Had the Metho there as well. So I did use that a couple of times. Had two lighters one is just a backup in case one of them stopped working and then this little Toaks Titanium spirit burner, which is really great it burns fast and hot. This is the Vargo Titanium BOT 700 can be used as a water bottle or as a cooking pot. I’ve made a little cozy for it It does help to keep some of the heat in and cook the food a little bit longer after it’s been on the stove but it’s mainly just very thin so it basically just Insulates the pot from my hand so that my hands don’t burn and I can hold that It’s a nice little hand warmer as well. So what I would do is I put in my dehydrated food fill it up to about two-thirds and then fill the rest up with water and then leave it for an hour or two and then all of all the food will have soaked up the water. be ready to eat. Most of the food I could eat without cooking it but There’s a couple of things like the mushrooms that needed to be cooked. I would usually have those for dinner. Because this gets a lot of ash and dirty things on there, I just had it inside a bag. These are Mountain Laurel Designs – Large Dyneema pouches. 12,000 milliamp hour voltaic USB battery bank. It will charge the pixel mobile phone about four times and Has two amp and a one amp charging, which is great so I can charge two different things at the same time And then I have a couple of spare GoPro batteries So one in the camera and then two spares. A USB C cable for charging the mobile phone. USB micro cable for charging the SteriPEN. Thrunite. Flashlight. It’s quite bright. It’s very handy, but doesn’t last long on full power mode. These two lipstick style USB battery chargers. Which are great. They’re very lightweight, 2600 milliamp hours each. This is a little USB light you can buy these on eBay or from electronic stores and they’re very cheap, lightweight and they’re dimmable, which is fantastic because They last a very long time and it can be very bright or dim. Spare micro SD card for the GoPro Camera. And this is a stick pic which connects to the end of a trekking pole. Had this Sawyer cleaning coupling that can be handy if the filter gets blocked up. Could use that to backwash the filter & clean it out. PawPaw Ointment and Hand Sanitiser. Puncture repair kit. Toilet paper in here & a lightweight trowel. First-aid kit One compression bandage Because it’s winter time. It’s very rare to be bitten by a snake or a spider in winter. So I just carry one, but in summer I always two just in case of snake bite. hydrogen peroxide, betadine. tweezers. A large safety pin Two of these Elastoplast bandages that can be cut to length. They’re great for blisters or cuts and this is 3m micropore tape Water purification tablets. They’re micropur forte. titanium fine cut scissors Some tape there some tent repair patches and a Sailmaker sewing needle. My sandals broke on the first day. I stitched them up with dental floss. A little mirror, Nitrile glove in here. Lens cleaning tissues. So I’d usually carry this around my neck. It just has the things that I would use quite frequently. Zoom h1 and audio recorder. A tripod. This is the ultra-pod. Really lightweight, it can be lashed around things I could strap this around a tree or strap it around a railing. Gopro 4 silver with MKE-2 elements Sennheiser microphone. It gets a lot better audio with this. External microphone and that’s waterproof as well. I also put a spirit level on the top which just helps to get the horizons nice and level particularly in linear mode. These are my maps. I prefer to print them off because they are cheaper that way. I can just print off exactly the areas that I’m interested in. So here I’ve got 27 pages in total. They’re all double-sided and I’ve got a little pencil there just for the keeping track of my route. Which way I’m Going which way I plan to go. And which way I actually went this is all inside a Ziplock bag to keep it waterproof compass Which is very handy, particularly for the off track. Suunto M3 Global. I put a little thremometer on here. Just before putting it on here I check. To make sure the needle. It doesn’t put the compass off direction. Some extra AAA batteries for the audio recorder or the flashlight. USB C 64 GB backup memory stick. I’ve got a little micro USB to USB C adapter and this is just in case the USB C cable stopped working. Because if that’s not working I couldn’t charge my phone and the phone is pretty essential piece of communication Navigation and Multipurpose item. PLB. Originally I was just borrowing them from the Katoomba police station. This is an essential piece of item really especially because I was walking by myself. Z Packs Front Pouch. My closed cell foam camping mat. NEMO Swithchback. But I also did have a another mat on top of that. The Klymit inertia X lite torso length inflatable mat. SOL Escape bivy. Cheap sleeping bag from the camping store. Denali. A summer or spring kind of sleeping bag. But I’d bought this one specifically because I didn’t want a very bulky Sleeping bag that will take up basically half of the pack so I have this one and then with the the two Bivy’s and wearing warm clothes they will give enough warmth. So this is a Bora side Zip Bivy. Very lightweight. compact This is the Sea to Summit ultra-sil Poncho Tarp. Great for throwing over myself and my backpack If it started to rain while I was walking This is my other rain gear. So this is a Frogg Toggs / Dry Ducks Ultralight Rain pants and rain jacket. Four Easton round alloy stakes. This is a Y stake alloy. These are two titanium stakes. Little Sea to Summit Ultra-mesh sack. Four litres. These are compression tights that just give a little bit of warm so I wear these in the mornings when it was cold when I started walking and But they also breathable and they do give sun protection as well. Fleecy buff on the bottom and then a normal-type buff on the top and I just cut this section off So I can put this one over my head Then this one can go around my neck, and the fleece keeps my neck warm There are some things that I kept in my backpack and I would only wear when I was going to sleep Cotton pajama pants and a long-sleeve cotton T shirt. Based layers, that was only when I was sleeping Synthetic pajama pants. Lots and lots of layers to keep warm. Because it can get down to -10°C in the mountains It didn’t. It got down to about zero for me though. So I was quite comfortable with all of these things These little fleece socks. Just put put my foot inside there for extra insulation to keep my feet warm. Business socks. And then I have these, these are just tights that I will put over all of my feet warming things. Full finger gloves, cut off finger gloves. I also had a puffy jacket with a hood Yeah, the puffy jack. It’s great. It’s super warm. There’s lots of insulation in there It’s just synthetic. Some more pants I did wear they sometimes in the daytime. Early in the mornings just to keep warm. Wore these to bed as well. So lots & lots of layers to save having a big winter sleeping bag. I just carried extra clothes. This is another hoodie Great to have zippers on all of these things every layer if it has a zipper That’s really good just means it’s easy to get on and off Ultra-sil mesh sack 2.5 litre. toothbrush Mouth guard Dental floss and a travel size toothpaste tube. These are Bedrock Cairn Pro Sandals I wouldn’t recommend using sandals For a long walk like this. There’s lots of things that can go wrong. Synthretic running shorts. So the other thing I was wearing is an Adapt-a-cap It’s really good for sun protection. Also adds a little bit of warmth. Thanks for watching. I hope you got something out of that and found it interesting. If you enjoy these kind of videos Please like and subscribe See you next time
